Posted on Feb 20th 2017.

Some of the Mayfield Singers braved the potentially bad weather and set off for Edinburgh to be part of the St Magnus International Festival’s installation “Orcadia : Land”  with was part of the official Hogmanay “Scot : Lands event.  Orcadia : Land was curated by Alasdair Nicolson and was a “mini St Magnus International Festival”  drawing particular attention to “Magnus 900″ an event commemorating the death of St Magnus on Egilsay 900 years ago this year, with community performers (us!), professional musicians (The Assembly Project) and emerging artists (Gnoss) all taking turns to give a flavour of the Festival through mainly contemporary music.  The Mayfields sang four pieces by Peter Maxwell Davis and four pieces by Alasdair Nicolson and of course the Hymn to St Magnus
